Serves 6 people
Ingredients
6 Fresh Ziggys Bratwurst Sausages
1 can pale ale beer
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup red capsicum, diced
2 tbsp onion, diced
1 fresh chili, seeded and finely chopped
1 cup sauerkraut, drained
6 hotdog buns, sliced lengthways
Seeded mustard
Method
Preheat a BBQ grill to medium hot. Alternatively, a frying pan or skillet can be used when ready.
Place a large saucepan over high heat, place the sausages inside and pour in the beer. Cook for about 4 minutes, or until the beer comes to the boil.
Reduce heat to medium and gently boil for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and pierce each bratwurst with a fork.
While the bratwurst are cooking, melt the butter in a frying pan or skillet, add the capsicum and onion and cook for about 2 minutes, until they are tender and crispy. Stir in the sauerkraut and heat through.
Drain the bratwurst. Remove the sauerkraut mixture and set aside. In the same pan on high heat (on the BBQ grill), place the drained bratwurst and cook for approximately 8 minutes, turning once. Bratwurst should be browned on both sides.
Place each bratwurst on buns and top with sauerkraut. Serve immediately with seeded mustard, to taste.
