Basiron Cheese has been touted as the world’s most exciting cheese brand. Why? When Dutch cheesemaker, Dick Veldhuyzen, decided to experiment with mixing different ingredients into his Gouda, an amazing array of colours and flavours emerged, creating something totally innovative and new.
This cow’s milk Gouda itself has a full and creamy flavour and a firm texture. The bright colours will catch the eye, but the flavour is even more striking. Arguably the most famous of the Basiron range is the green Pesto Verde – the first to be created in this game-changing range and is made with basil and garlic, giving it a good strong Italian-style flavour. The fresh pesto taste accompanies the mild Gouda characteristics to create something completely different.
There are many ways to enjoy the Basiron cheeses. Apart from making an exciting addition to any cheese platter, the cheese can be sliced and included in fresh sandwiches or melted down with a dash of olive oil and poured over pasta as a simple sauce. It also makes a fantastic cheese to add to a grilled panini.
Next time you head into our Salamanca Fresh stores, be sure to check the cheese section for a selection of Basiron cheeses, cut into wedges and ready to enjoy.
